we meant to celebrate, just the two of us, without the little one to fuss over for once. so we took the day off to do the whole ‘dating’ thing, something we’ve kinda forgotten for quite a while since we got caught up with the duty of parenting. we’d even considered leaving him behind for a weekend to go somewhere, but… well, there’d be too much logistics involved (breastpump and bottles would have to be packed next to lingerie, not exactly exotic, romantic stuff), coupled with that first-time-parent guilt.

so we ended up spending the morning with him, and he had no idea we were going to ditch him for a wanton afternoon out.

ok, so we didn’t exactly get hot and steamy ala jack and rose in titanic, lol! all we managed was a late lunch and a movie, and before we could think up of any other activities, my boobs started activating its ‘homing device’. it’d been at least four hours since the last feed, so it was pretty much on time. in fact, it’s the ONLY thing about me that’s ever ‘punctual’. :D

i have little qualms at this point about revolving my life around his feeding time. i mean, it’s only this small period in my life we’re talking about, not forever. i’ll have the rest of my living years to prioritise myself (and celebrate anniversaries), and only a short time having this little person depending on me – ME! – to provide his essential nutrition. sounds like martyrdom to some, but heck it. i’m stubborn that way.

so yeah, we headed straight back to fetch the little one, and concluded the day by bringing him out for a short walk. i guess it’s only fair to include him in his parents’ anniversary celebration after all, eh?

coz he IS the highlight of our three years together after all. :)

his agenda is simple: to infiltrate and destroy every corner of the izadnhana residence.

after satisfactorily annihilating one area (the above being one of his favourite hot spots, which later prompted us to turn the bookshelf around so that the opening faces the wall instead – thank gawd for ikea’s mobile shelf with rotatable wheels), he’d move on to another. and another. and… you get the point.

all i can do is nag (which falls on amused ears) and clear up after him coz i know that at his age, they learn more from ‘destruction’. no point expecting him to put things back in place, their motor skills aren’t developed enough for ‘construction’ yet. :S

so till he’s old enough to understand the concept of putting things back to where they belong (to some, this concept never hit them even in adulthood, ie. fathers, lol!), mummy’s just gotta bear with it and hone her nagging skills. hehe.

well, at least i did. lol!

a seemingly heartless attempt of crushing his cheeks to pry open his mouth. :p

their bottom teeth generally appear first, and i was getting worried that they hadn’t started making their grand entrance after months of waiting, but i think late appearance of teeth is probably the last thing to worry about.

in fact, better late for us nursing mums, hehe.

i thought there’d be teething problems and expected the worst, like fever, crankiness and/or rejection of food or milk, but so far, they just popped out without us even realising it. it must have been that high threshold of pain of his at work again, not minding the sore gums and extra drooling, and in fact, having even more fun chewing on every object in his path.

well, no one else wanted to babysit him (not even his daddy), so a group of hawny girls in a room would have to do.

we assembled at the hotel and did some nasty things to the bride-to-be.

like blindfolding her and shackling her feet to a ball and chain. coz that’s what marriage is all about, ain’t it! (especially when you have a baby and bring him to a hen party because no one else can look after him, hurhur.)

ayu did a fantabulous job with the obligatory choc-cock cake, almost giving her mum a heart attack when she came upon her decorating it in her room, lol!

wonder which of us will be assigned to do the cake when it’s HER turn, hehee.

not sure if this will be aniq’s first AND last hen party. perhaps his daddy should take him to a stag party instead? erm.

and yes, i DO think you should, even at bus stops! :D

that is, if you agree with your husband’s sartorial style and allow him a hand at dressing up your little darling. hurhur.

i’m personally not a fan of football jerseys (how mat is that!), and what more one with a beer logo emblazoned on it, but there ya go. his daddy’s loyalty to a footie team takes precedence over mummy’s better judgment. :p

yes aniq, i’d screech like you too if i weren’t an adult!

this is my aunt’s third child, so she’s blase enough to let her maid take over most of the time.

i thought it most peculiar and that the maid was mishandling the baby, but the little one was quite happy being held that way. apparently, some babies actually LIKE being wedged under their caregivers armpit. it’s an asian thing. makes them feel, erm, calm and secure?

i’m a little iffy about maids being too attached to my baby, but then, that’s just me. whenever i see her carrying my lil one in her batik sling, i get kinda… territorial and insist on taking him out of it. like i said, that’s just me. most likely that ‘first-time parent syndrome’ thing.

who knows, if i ever have a third kid, i’d let the maid carry the baby in a rucksack for all i care! :D

we arrived late at the breastfest and missed the simultaneous b/feeding event, but registered ourselves for the record anyway.

there were talks by celeb mums, one of whom was conspicuously absent, and later we find out that she had just given birth (yes, we’re talking about mrs fandi here).

some shopping was done…

some socks went loose…

some winks were caught…

some shoulders were rubbed. lol!

some prizes were given out for the blog-on-breast competition, and i have to admit it was with some bias that i’d submitted the names of my fellow b/feeding friends to win. ah well, they WERE very well-written pieces after all! :)

the first-prize winner, and my bosom buddy, was caught in surprise at the mention of her name. i think the tempur pillow she won will be quite useful. eh, not cheap leh that thing!

am glad to have been a part of this, albeit in small support, and who knows when else i will get the opportunity to do this again?
