“Shake, shake, shake your money maker

Like you were shaking it for some paper

It took your momma 9 months to make ya

Might as well shake what your momma gave ya…”

ok. momma quoting ludacris? now THAT’S ludicrous.

chewbacca

the little piranha will chew on anything that comes his way.

be it soft and furry…

be it hard and plasticky…

be it rubbery and yukky…

and just when i thought he’d take a break from all that gum action and gone on to more serious endeavours like contemplating the inanity of ’sing a song of sixpence’…

the little piranha struck again.

oh well.

wanderwall

occasionally, a trip to the airport cures the wistful wanderlust in me.

a little.

i like bundling him up in his jammies and going on a little trip to the airport, since it’s only a mere 15 minutes away, if only to berfeeling jet-setting tourist for a bit.

sigh.

dawn of a new era

it looks like the era of attending weddings has passed.

we’ve graduated to frequent visitings of freshly-baked babies, kids’ birthdays, cukur rambut ceremonies, etc.

natural progression, of course. all those people whose weddings we’ve gone to had to go have babies, don’t they? :)

so when is YOUR turn, unty?? hee!

inkubator

was phone-interviewed by RSI Melayu the other day, but didn’t manage to catch the full thing on radio itself. which was just as well coz i hate listening to my own horrid voice on air, plus i was having a sore throat, and speaking in full malay is just… “janggal” to me! :D

there’s no transcript of the interview though, just this:

Khasiat susu badan baik bagi ibu dan anak

thanks to illydea for the opportunity. :)

creepy crawly

i get my kicks from tormenting him to crawl, or rather CREEP, from one end of the hallway to the other.

spiderman in the making??

you can tell that he’ll bulldoze his way through any obstacles to get what he wants. a little like his mummy, perhaps? hurhur.

jail bait

his hands are just all over the place these days. pawing and swiping at everything within his reach. especially shiny happy gadgets like dvd players.

so what do you do with babies with sticky hands?

well, you could try entrapping them.

a little bait will do. doesn’t take much to lure them in, really. even a bit of string would suffice.

ahh, the things parents do to amuse themselves.

*no babies were harmed in the making of this entry.

lycra love

among the various excuses i’ve heard for not b/feeding is how “inconvenient” it is, especially when you’re outside.

but i cannot disagree more with this. there is nothing more convenient to me than whipping out your boob on demand.

less baggage, less downtime, less fussing!

clothing-wise, it isn’t much of a hassle either. i think i have maybe three or four b/feeding shirts in all, but like maternity clothes, they’re pretty cool and nice to have, especially with all the neat little ’secret’ folds built in for that extra bit of discretion, but i’ve learnt to do without them.

the real secret lies in: layering!

thin, stretchy lycra spaghetti tops are great fashion inventions. they don’t cost much, they don’t go out of shape, and they come in a colorful array to match your clothes and mood. be it from metro or mango, they’re my wardrobe staple for now.

due to my rather smallish, ahem, ‘anthills’, i sometimes even eliminate altogether the formidable nursing bra (these also, not cheap and not exactly victoria secret sexy, lol!). hello, tollyjoy breastpads! (they’re the cheapest and have the most surface coverage, by the way.) (ok, you would have gathered by now what a cheapskate i can be.)

so, all you need to do is put them over your normal everyday top, and during feeds, pull the top layer upwards and the bottom layer downwards – voila! no bare skin is exposed, modesty is intact, baby is happy.

yeah, not exactly rocket science, i know. lol!

and here’s something i got off the net. :)

You Can Breastfeed Anywhere
by Laurie Coker

You may breastfeed in a store,
on the floor,
in a roar.
You may breastfeed in a jam,
eating fried green eggs and ham.
You may breastfeed on the stair.
You may breastfeed anywhere!

Your baby can latch on in a swing,
on the wing,
in a ring.
He can latch on in a car,
where you are,
at the barre.
She can latch on in a storm,
on the farm:
that’s her charm.
She can latch on in a train,
on a plane,
without pain.
They can latch on to a rhyme.
They can latch on any time.

You can nurse Jane or Joe.
You can nurse Clyde or Moe.
you can nurse Betty or Sallie.
you can nurse at a political rally.
You can nurse any time, anywhere.
You can nurse clothed or bare.
You can nurse unshaved of hair.
You can nurse Tim, Tony or Tom.
Who can nurse? Any mom!

hi, chair!

since he’d already started eating, it was time to get him a proper chair.

a HIGH one.

we ended up at baby kingdom (or was it baby hypermart? i always get confused with these two) but were not exactly spoilt for choice. the ones that stood out were the peg peregos.

it was a tough choice! (even more so with the amount of $$ we were about to part with, ha ha.) i refused to get a blue one coz none of the furniture in our house was blue. have to integrate it into our existing infrastructure after all, you know. mummy cannot compromise (much) on aesthetics. :D

sooo, we got him a lurid yellow one.

and some other… stuff as well.

yes, more parting of $$.

he seemed keen on mr lion (*cue throaty growl*), and it didn’t interfere with our interior decorating too much, so okaaay… :p

we also picked up those ubiquitous jigsaw foam mats for his creeping/crawling pleasure. it was also hoped that he’d have less knocks on the head during his frequent floor explorations.

yeah, i’m pretty sure they would make nice chewy treats for him too.

ah, these foam mats, unfortunately, are a bit of an eyesore in the house. since he’d spend most of his ‘adventures’ in the hall, it made sense to place them there. but, why oh why aren’t there less gaudy versions out there?!

oh well. let’s ruminate this burning question over a bowl of mush, shall we?
